Thanks for visiting! I’m an early learning specialist and for the past 18+ years, I’ve worked in a variety of roles educating young children and empowering their caregivers. Some examples include:

PreK teacher, with most of my time spent with ages 3-6

Early literacy librarian and children’s book reviewer

Early childhood and elementary curriculum writer and editor, which included creating an at-home learning kit for PreK

Product lead and educational consultant for a toy company, specific to early learning and social-emotional growth

Family and community engagement specialist for an educational publisher

Presenter at state and national conferences/webinars for educators, parents, and caregivers on early learning and literacy
Through all these roles, I’ve had the opportunity to develop a unique professional toolkit of expertise in areas like early literacy, early math and counting principles, social-emotional development, potty training, learning through play, and child-led learning through play.
Before Minnesota, I lived all around Illinois: rural communities, tiny but mighty farm towns, and most recently, the Chicago suburbs. Hosting a PreK group like this has always been a dream of mine, and I am so excited to help the amazing little humans in the Two Harbors community learn and grow. It would be a privilege to work with your family during Play Scouts’ foundational school year. I look forward to being a partner in your child’s success!
Aside from loving teaching, I love being with my family. I am the mom of two fantastic big kids, and my wonderful partner works as an emergency room nurse. Our family loves to explore outdoors, play Mario Kart, listen to audiobooks, and have fun with our many marvelous pets.
Some of Ms. Sydney's favorite things: coffee, silly socks, reading books, animals of all kinds, bird watching, cheese fries, storytime, mermaids, and playing outside. I can't wait to meet you!
